Somerset holiday parks

Somerset is blessed with a wealth of rural beauty, history and legends that are known the world over.

The seaport of Bristol is a modern, cosmopolitan city with a rich and chequered history, and Somerset’s coastline also features Weston-Super-Mare with its famous sweep of golden sand and bounty of family entertainment. Glastonbury Tor rises from the natural splendour of the Somerset Levels, steeped in the legends of King Arthur, The Knights of the Round Table and the Holy Grail. The ruins of Glastonbury Abbey lie at the foot of the Tor, reputedly the burial place of King Arthur and his Queen, Guinevere.

Close to the Mendip Hills is medieval Wells Cathedral, one of the finest examples in England, which sits alongside Bishop’s Palace, once home to the powerful medieval Bishops of Bath and Wells. Wookie Hole is close to Wells and with its amazing cave and fantastic Valley of the Dinosaurs it’s a must-see for families.

At the northern reach of the Mendips is Cheddar Gorge, a feast of sights and smells for visitors with traditional cheddar cheese still matured in its spectacular caves.

There are fantastic walking opportunities in the Quantock Hills and on rugged Exmoor. Bath is a stunning place to visit and its Roman Baths, sited over a hot spring, are a World Heritage site.

If you’re looking for some lighter family entertainment, Brean Leisure Park, between Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare, is a good bet.
