Lincolnshire has a scenic coastline offering family seaside fun, and peaceful countryside with open hills and stately homes and gardens, and marshland containing rich birdlife.
The city of Lincoln is a draw with its famous cathedral and castle, construction of which was started by William the Conqueror in 1068. It also houses an original copy of the Magna Carta. Burghley house, standing in a 300-acre deer park, Tattershall Castle and Belton House are also great family attractions.
Humberside is a large county with plenty of top attractions including the gardens at Harlow Carr, and Ripley Castle, Newby Hall, Fountains Abbey, Harewood House, and the Abbeys of Rievaux and Jervaux. For theme-park entertainment Fantasy Island and Pleasure Land both make for a great family day out.
The county town of Beverley has a great racecourse and the mighty suspension bridge across the River Humber is always worth a visit.
